"Solar is the only way to go. Since Nova Sun Power installed it five years ago, we haven't had an ounce of trouble. A great investment for the future both environmentally and financially."

Pictou Island

Nova Sun Power installed two Fujitsu heat pumps and a solar hot water system for me in 2010.  Rob MacKean was extremely helpful. But more importantly, he is very resourceful and was able to find unobtrusive ways to install which is hugely important in an old house such as mine. Since the installation he has also helped with various upkeep needs. I recommend this company highly.

"Solar power has provided us with an efficient and dependable power source while living off the grid on Pictou Island. Accolades go to Mr. Robert MacKean at Nova Sun Power for technical advice and professional installation of the solar powered system in our home. We are planning to add to our system in the near future and Nova Sun Power is the place to do business! We take pleasure in recommending Bob for your future solar power requirements."

The Macdonalds

I am writing to thank you for the tremendous installation of our new solar electric system. I could not have asked for a more worry free experience. You took the time to show me what options I had and how I could make the best system work with my specific needs. Your service during and after the installation has been nothing less than incredible. I really appreciate the fact that you personally came to our house on numerous times and checked on the system. You have made our transition to solar power a stress free experience and I would like to thank you for all your hard work and time."

The Downeys

For the past nine years, Nova Solar Power has been our Solar and Wind Power - Sales and Services Provider.

Since, living off grid presents numerous options relater to electricity generation requirements – it behoves one to find a knowledgeable, reliable, and cost conscious Sales and Services Provider to satisfy ones needs for the long haul.

Too many of my neighbours have sought the quick and so called budget friendly fix for their solar power start-up and ongoing services needs only to be sorely disappointed with the deficient results, namely: An inferior and out-dated solar power hardware solution; an eventual more costly solar power solution; and an inadequate, if any, ongoing Sales and Support Services solution.

As far as my wife and I are concerned, if you are looking for an all round honest, reputable and caring Solar, Sales and Services Provider, coupled with competitively priced and reliable state of the art hardware, Nova Sun Power is the place to consult.

Bob and Kathy Hay

I was constructing a new home in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.  I wanted this house to be ‘green’, and in particular I did not want to power my home with oil, and I didn’t want to necessarily rely on NS Power (electrical/coal).  My home included a large 4000 sq ft. home plus a detached garage.  We decided to go with air-source heat pumps in the home and garage, plus a grid-tied solar photovoltaic systems to offset our energy costs and reduce our dependence on coal-powered electricity.  Further, we also decided to install a solar hot water system to supplement our hot water and further reduce our dependence on NS power.

We choose to work with Nova Sun Power to not only design and install our solar systems, but we also asked them to design the entire electrical system. Nova Sun Power worked with us from the initial design phases through final construction and inspections. Due to issues with positioning the foundation in correct direction, we chose a ground-mount solar PV system (this solution provided us easy access for snow removal).  A Thermodynamic solar hot water system, installed by Nova Sun Power on the roof supplements our electrical hot water, operating year round. The electrical panels for the 400-amp service, plus the solar PV system were done very neatly with everything clearly identified. Nova Sun Power owner, Robert MacKean, explained all the benefits and drawbacks of all the different ‘green’ energy choices making us feel confident in our choices.  My only wish was that we could have installed a larger solar PV system, but we can always expand in the future.  If you’re looking for an honest, straight-forward and professional company for your solar power and heating needs, I would recommend Nova Sun Power.  Not only are they a local Nova Scotia business with years of experience, but they also use local suppliers whenever possible, further supporting our local Maritime economy. Thank you for a great job!

The solar system in our home was installed by Nova Sun Power. The installation was done in a professional and efficient manner Rob made himself available to answer any questions or concerns pre and post installation.

Nova Sun Power also installed a heat pump in our home which proved invaluable this harsh winter.

I have no hesitation in recommending Rob and his staff at Nova Sun Power for all your energy and heat upgrades.

The Halifax Regional Municipality has just completed its first two corporate photovolatic projects in partnership with Nova Sun Power. These two systems are both on the Halifax Common – a 5 kW system on the pavilion building and a 3 kW system on the North Common Washroom.

We have been extremely pleased with the workmanship and professionalism of Robert and his team. Nova Sun Power helped guide HRM through the net-metering connection process in a very timely manner, which was a relief considering these were our first PV projects. Nova Sun Power’s level of experience in executing the work really showed. The equipment provided was of very high quality, but just as important – the installation was was well.

We would be pleased to recommend Nova Sun Power for similar projects to potential clients and more than happy to allow consumers thinking about PV to visit either of the sites and have a first-hand look.

Yours Sincerely,

Julian Boyle, P.Eng.
